You Don’t Have to Give Up Your Life (or Your Lover) to Feel Better
Most approaches to gut issues start in the same place:
Take things away.
Foods.
Routines.
Anything that might trigger a reaction.
And for a lot of women, that becomes the trade-off:
feel a little better… but live a smaller life.
One of my clients made it clear from the start:
She wasn’t giving up her evenings.
At 73, she’s active, engaged, and fully living her life.
Part of her routine was simple - but important:
+ Cuddling on the couch
+ Snacks
+ Connection with her partner
And she didn’t want to lose that.
At the time, her body wasn’t cooperating.
Bloating.
Food reactions.
Unpredictable digestion.
The kind of pattern that usually leads to more restriction.
But that’s not the direction we took.
We didn’t remove the routine.
We worked on building her capacity.
Expanding what she could eat.
Stabilizing her digestion.
Reducing the reactivity that was driving the symptoms.
Over time, her body caught up.
More foods.
More consistency.
Less second-guessing.
And most importantly - she kept the part of her life that mattered to her.
This is where most people get it wrong.
They assume feeling better requires giving things up. It doesn’t. It requires changing how your body responds.
That’s the work.
And that’s what creates results that actually hold.
